Don't Sleep on Your Small Spaces

My favorite design moments happen in the smallest rooms. Powder rooms, narrow hallways, tucked-away corners and the best places to make big impacts! They feel low stakes, and honestly, that is what makes them so fun.

Wallpaper is a perfect example. Committing to it in a large space can feel daunting, both financially and visually. But something shifts when you bring it into a smaller room. Instead of overwhelming the space, it actually expands it.

I chose a citrus garden in our powder room, with the help of Louise Hane Interiors, and I am obsessed. It feels playful and light, almost like stepping outside. There is something genuinely joyful about it. It puts me in a good mood, which is not something you typically expect from a powder room.

Wallpaper works so well in small rooms because it pulls your eye outward. You stop noticing the size of the room and start noticing the pattern, the color, and the movement. The walls stop feeling like boundaries and start feeling expansive.

We paired the wallpaper with a mirror, which brings even more depth. Mirrors reflect both light and pattern, making the space feel larger and more open without changing a single dimension. Add thoughtful lighting, and the room becomes a vibe.

I love the creative freedom wallpaper allows in tight spaces. A small space gives permission to be bold, and to try something unexpected. If it becomes one of your favorite moments in the home, wonderful. If your taste shifts later, no problem.

Every corner of a home deserves intention, especially the cozy ones.
